The Emergence of Private Medical Schools in the UK: Considerations for an International Applicant

In January this year, the University of Buckingham Medical School opened its doors to its first intake of 66 students. The private medical school, which charges £35,000 per year for tuition fees, is the first of its kind to open in the UK. It offers students an accelerated four-and-a-half year course as well as, according to its prospectus, the opportunity to “be part of a transformative movement in British higher education”.
