Aspire English 2023/24 Regular Program (For ages 2.5+)
Developed by early childhood educators, our courses offer a springboard which empowers young children to transition from hearing stories to giving book talks, and from comprehending text to creating their own pieces. Students will develop a range of skills, including phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, to become future ready readers and writers.

Storytelling (for ages 2.5-3.5)
Expose to 2 storybooks a month and practice motor skills for phonics lessons
Children should learn that reading is an enjoyable skill. In the Aspire Storytelling course, they will engage in a series of English language skills through the medium of storytelling. Children will explore in a fun and engaging environment and will build positive habits for future reading.
- Hearing stories and seeing others read
- Talking about the pictures in books
- Hearing rhymes and rhythms
Phonics (for ages 3+)
Build fundamental skills to read stories aloud
The aim of a quality Phonics program is to create confident and independent readers. In the Aspire Phonics course children will become proficient in decoding (translating words to sounds) and encoding (utilizing sounds to create words) and will apply these skills to reading and dictation.
- Decoding (Talking words apart) and Encoding (Putting words back together)
- Growing confidence in advance blending skills (Diagraphs, Trigraphs, Long Vowels)
- Developing a vocabulary of Common Exception Words (the, you, a)
Readers & Writers (for ages 4+)
Read recommended stories (up to 5 books a month)
Children will continue to develop the fundamental skills needed for academic success. They will focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary extension, grammar building, creative writing, and public speaking. These skills will be built simultaneously and students will learn how to connect these new skills to their growing critical thinking abilities.
- Engaging in reading comprehension activities to extend vocabulary
- Studying and practicing initial grammar and writing skills
- Gaining spoken-English confidence through Book Talk presentations
