Our Team

Alan is a recent graduate of Columbia University's urban planning program, where his research interests focused on urban analytics and technology. He has completed several government and community-based projects, including developing a transparency dashboard for the Rio de Janeiro government to enhance data sharing among government entities.  In addition to his urban planning degree, Alan also holds a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). During his time at UCSD, he researched the human memory system and child development, working as a research assistant on memory-related projects. He also served as an instructional apprentice at UCSD, where he gained experience in teaching and curriculum development.

Throughout his time studying at the top US universities, Alan dedicated his spare time to assisting aspiring students with their applications and providing academic support. As an Instructional Apprentice at UCSD, he led weekly discussion sections and proved academic support to students. He also contributed to course planning and curriculum development with professors, furthering his commitment to helping aspiring students. His genuine enthusiasm for education has been the cornerstone of his professional journey. In addition, Alan boasts a diverse background spanning various sectors. As a technology and innovation intern at the United Nations, he helped develop a datahub collating open-source data on contextual dynamics, which is now used on peacekeeping missions. His experience working with the United Nations has cultivated his understanding of global issues and sharpened his cross-cultural communication abilities. Moreover, Alan's previous design background has nurtured his creativity and problem-solving aptitude, enabling him to communicate effectively and efficiently.

In his free time, Alan loves soccer and hiking. He enjoys the physical challenges and the opportunity to meet new people. Alan also has a passion for art and history, and he loves visiting museums and cultural landmarks. His passion for travelling has taken him on adventures to the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan in Mexico, the stunning landscapes of Cappadocia in Turkey, and the vibrant culture of Kyoto in Japan. Alan has also visited iconic US destinations like Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. He finds inspiration and well-being in the natural beauty of these places.
