Our Team

Cici earned her undergraduate B.A. from the University of Chicago with a major in Comparative Literature and a minor in Philosophy. She maintained an excellent academic record while in college and used this experience to expand on her creative and expository writing skills, as well as improve her abilities to translate between English, French, and Chinese. She is a polyglot who is interested in studying languages. In the future, she hopes to obtain a graduate degree in Education so she can better understand and serve the needs of her students. 

Since college, Cici has worked in US college application counselling both through a volunteer program targeting Chicago-area high school, for a Mainland-based agency, as well as freelance work in Vancouver, Canada. She has experience working with a variety of student backgrounds that differ culturally, academically, and socially. Her favourite part of application counselling involves brainstorming with students their personal statement ideas and helping them reflect on their own identities. Throughout the years, Cici’s students have received acceptances to top schools including UChicago, NYU, and Pomona. 

Cici first discovered her love for teaching in high school, when she volunteered to give vocabulary lessons to primary-school students who recently began learning English; she has since worked as a writing and standardized testing tutor and enjoys helping students reach their educational goals. She also has interned in educational administration at her college’s Public Policy School as well as Peking University.

Cici was born in Kunming, China, and grew up in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada. She enjoys the multicultural atmosphere of Hong Kong, as well as exploring its restaurants. She especially loves Italian food and making handmade pasta. Her favourite pastimes include reading Russian literature, especially Nabokov, playing with her cats, and watching soccer. She is a lifelong fan of Bayern Munich.
