Our Team

Jonathan graduated from York St. John University with a B.A in English Language and Linguistics, specialising in sociolinguistics and political discourse. Upon completion of his degree he was invited to present his dissertation findings at an undergraduate conference to Academics and other undergraduates. Through his study of Linguistics he decided to pursue a career in Education,  Jonathan has since completed his TEFL and PGCE certification.

Jonathan’s interest in education began at 13. He was invited by his school to take part in a collaboration with a local Premiership football team to mentor young students and encourage reading through the context of sport. Jonathan believes this experience of collaborative learning with his peers and independent research has influenced his teaching ethos.

Jonathan also notes that his A-level Politics teacher was a great influence as he was encouraged to lead debates, analyse ideas and to question the status quo.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has shown a keen interest in digital journalism, most notably for a mental health charity in his home city. This taught valuable skills such as article writing/editing and interview techniques. All of which he has used to provide context in the classroom.

Having taught a broad range of ages and abilities, Jonathan was responsible for creating engaging and appropriate content. He found his teaching techniques and calm demeanour really gave his students an environment they could be confident and flourish. Jonathan was also partially responsible for teaching training.

At ARCH, Jonathan will be engaged in teaching a broad range of enrichment courses as well as instruct individual students in private lessons on English Language and Literature for school application needs and public examinations.

Jonathan has a keen interest in politics, photography and collecting vinyl records. He is also fond of modern art and travelling.
