Case Studies
Z.M. reached out to ARCH after spending two years working in the energy industry and following his graduation from Emory University. We first coordinated GMAT distance tutoring for Z.M., and then engineered a 1-year plan to include resume enhancement, interview assistance, essay design and career goals planning. Z.M.’s essay set for top business schools was particularly creative, entertaining, and at times, even self-effacing. Z.M. secured an interview with HBS, and ultimately became one of a select few to gain admission to what some experts call the finest business school in the world. Z.M. is currently working as a Strategy Consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Read MoreF.H. reached out to ARCH after spending 1 year in a professional accounting firm in Toronto, CA. This presented an interesting case because F.H. only wanted to attend a top MBA program that his newlywed, S.H., could also attend. Both F.H and S.H. had earned solid grades at a strong Canadian university, but were at a loss for how to co-market themselves as a “couple MBA candidate.” ARCH worked tirelessly with F.H and S.H. over a period of 18 months to engineer a pre-Business School plan that included distinctive personal activities, community outreach efforts and professional planning. ARCH also provided distance GMAT tutoring to both candidates. After securing good GMAT scores and drafting heart-felt essays in which each applicant spoke to one another – as husband and wife – through the essays themselves, F.H. and S.H. secured admission to their top choice business school: Yale School of Management.
Read MoreM.S. reached out to ARCH while as an undergraduate at University of Michigan to evaluate what top schools might offer masters programs that fit her interests. M.S. desired to return to Southeast Asia to work with governmental entities related to issues on international trade and economics. We worked hand-in-hand with M.S. to locate several viable options, advised on additional extracurricular activities and internships to make her a more competitive post-graduate applicant, and crafted a unique application to align her distinctive career goals with curricula at several top US universities. We were thrilled when M.S. was accepted to Stanford’s Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences.
Read MoreT.T. approached ARCH during his first year of studies at UC Berkeley. He was studying Economics within the College of Arts and Science, but dreamed of entering Berkeley’s Top 5 undergraduate business program at Haas. Internal transfer applications are often required when a student seeks to enter a different college within the same university in the US. UC Berkeley business school’s admission rate for internal transfer is extremely low, and thus T.T. approached ARCH just a few months ahead of the internal transfer deadline for immediate assistance. We worked with T.T. to differentiate himself from other UC Berkeley undergraduates vying for admission to Haas, through creating essays that aligned his particular academic, research, and vocational interests with key faculty at Haas. We were elated when T.T., despite being a B+ student in his first year of studies at UC Berkeley, was welcomed as a transfer into Haas for his undergraduate business degree.
